Streamline Cyber Essentials Renewal and keep costs to a minimum. Also help up remain compliant through until renewal to reduce renewal time and effort.
The Solution
Working with CyberSecuritiesUK they deployed their custom Cyber Essentials Discovery and Update Agent which reduced effort both for us and also fast tracked the entire process. We were able to renew our Cyber Essentials certification within 5 days of project start.
Client is a CyberSecuritiesUK Managed IT Support client – so our general cyber processes were quite strong. However, previously we asked CyberSecuritiesUK to run several off-the shelf tools and also custom scripts – typically patching was most problematic, and each computer took between half an hour (basic updates and patching) to over two hours (full operating system update).
Traditionally this was performed using a mixture of manual (mainly for Windows 10 build updates – as we want to upgrade all Windows 10 devices to the latest build) and also patching (mainly automatic). However, even using standard tools compliance was at best 70% – 80% with the remainder having to be completed manually.
Using their new Cyber Essentials tool, they were able to streamline the process to around 15 minutes per device, which also included collecting key environment details which are now required for Cyber Essentials submission.
We estimate the deployment of the new tool saved us around 5 to 10 working days of initial consultancy, furthermore, now the new tool has been deployed, we are expecting ongoing cost savings, in particular when we come to renewal in early 2022.
